Anxious Potato Plants/early gardening

IMG_0013  The nice warm weather that March can bring makes one anxious to get started with plants and vegetables for the garden.

These anxious potato plants are a prime example.                                                                  For my area of the country starting anything that soon means that the plants will be ready to go outdoors too early.  Yet how tempting it always is.

Many of the seed potatoes that were in the basement were like these anxious potato plants.

They had grown long eye sprouts so I decided to give them (a few anyway) a chance to get a head start.  There was more than enough good dirt to work with and some fine gravel was dug out of the creek out back.

Four and five gallon tubs were easily accessible from one of the pole barns where they are kept for use in the annual potato harvest that Southern tier Antique tractor club does each fall. ( the club with the help of many local volunteers/come harvest time/picked over 40,000 lbs of potatoes this past fall).

All that is harvested is donated to the food bank, Chow and two or more area churches.

After collecting a few buckets some time earlier to get them ready for a planned container garden I painted several.

Then adding some of the creek gravel to the bottom and the good soil over that the tubs were ready.  Potatoes were cut so that each piece had an eye sprout then the pieces were planted in the tubs. The (now) garden tubs were placed in a corner of that basement that I use as my art and projects studio to see if they would grow.

The sprouts did come alive and grow. And they made every effort to stretch toward the window in front of them.

They were in a hurry from the start and I was pleased to see that they were doing something.

Not enough light came through that window to really give the plant’s strength to produce. But they were indeed growing.

One of my activities to provide extra light that would be helpful with the plant’s development was to move three or more at a time to the landing just outside the door. This was work and hampered some by my having had bypass surgery a month earlier. Check out the post Doctor Visit to craft project for more on that interesting experience.

The light helped some of the plants, others not so much.

Some helpful insights to any reading that are new to gardening.

Though the potato plants seen here did keep growing it appears that from lack of enough sun ( in the right intensity) the plants produced little to no potatoes. I did get a few that were about the size of chic peas. Tasted good when cooked but way too much labor.  Negative no just needs worked out better.

Passover memorial or Easter

The debate of the many religious groups continues but only one can be correct.

Passover memorial or Easter Which one, Passover Memorial or Easter do you believe it should be?  Debate is not the purpose of this late night post.  It is being presented because the savior indeed paid the debit but not a debit he owed,  it was our debit that he paid for with his life. Yet the timing is important too.

The timing is important since the scripture provides us the sequence of events and Easter another.

And that he the true messiah rose from the dead on the third day confirmed who he really is.                                               In humbling himself in obedience even to dying on a stake for transgressions but not his own( he was without sin) He was exalted and given the name above every name,  that at the name of Yahshua the messiah every knee shall bow of those in the heavens and in the earth and under the earth.  And everyone will confess to the glory of Yahweh the Father that Yahshua the messiah is Lord.       Look at Philippians 2: 5-11

Yahshua said that even as Jona was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, even so, would the Son of man be in the heart of the earth.  Both Jona and Yahshua were dead.

According to the scriptures, Yahshua was the Passover lamb who was going to fulfill the Heavenly sacrifice of which the earthly was only a type. And Yahshua was also going to accomplish this in the sequence of events that made up the earthly ceremony.

According to the scriptures, Yahshua was tried on the night of the 13 th  Nissan our Tuesday after dark and through the night to our Wednesday morning. ( Jewish reckoning the new day begins after sunset ). After sunset it became then the 14 th of Nissan.  The 14 th is the day when the lambs would be sacrificed.

Yahshua was with the disciples minus Judas Iscariot in the garden late Tuesday when the religious authorities with the mob came to arrest him.   Then in the early morning of the 14 th after Yahshua had been mocked spit upon and beaten with a whip almost to death, he was lead out and impaled on the stake. Yahshua was nailed to the stake and hung there suffering, thirsty and being continually mocked until 3  Pm at which time he said it was finished and he of his own doing breathed his final breath and died.

Just before sunset Nicodemus and Joseph were given permission to remove the Lord’s body from the stake so the body could be in the tomb before the new day started just after sunset.

Yahshua died on Wednesday the 14 th at 3 Pm (approx). was placed in the tomb by sunset. Three days and three nights later he was raised back to life because he was without sin in himself. It was our sin he bore the punishment of.   So Wednesday the 14 th to Thursday the 15 th is one ; Thursday to Friday the 16 th is two: and Friday to Saturday the 17 th is three.   Saturday is actually the Sabbath.

Yahshua could be raised to life again anytime on the 17 th . Though it could also be at 3 Pm three full days and night after he died.

The Women made their first trip to the tomb just after sunset on the sabbath and Yahshua was already gone.

The wonder of the women visiting is interesting in itself because the scriptures record at least three visits by the women. They were at the tomb on our Sunday Yahshua was already gone and did not show himself to Mary Magdala until later in the morning.

So according to the scriptural account Easter is not the day Yahshua rose from the dead and has nothing to do with our savior.

How could it have been a good Friday

There is no way it could have been a good day for the one who was crucified.

Most of you know some of what is said to take place prior to one being impaled on a stake, not good-by any means.

But more important here is that Jesus  Christ(proper name Yahshua, the messiah)could not be the one who was crucified on a Friday since Yahshua himself said that he was going to be in the grave thee days and three nights as Jona was three days and nights in the belly of the great fish.See Mathew 12 ; 40.

Now if Yahshua had simply said three days, one might rightly conclude that the days would not have to be full 24 hour days . But stating  three days and three nights requires the full-time not one whole and parts of two.

Yahshua was to be the heavenly sacrifice that paid the(our)wage for sin(breaking God’s laws) that the earthly sacrifice of a yearling lamb could only serve as a type ie. be temporary.

It was Yahshua’s shed life’s blood that satisfied the righteous requirement ( the wage for sin is death). But Yahshua had to die( he of his own and in the will of the Father laid down his life for all mankind), and the way this death was to take place had to be according to the scripture also. Yahshua was to be the passover sacrifice.  The Passover is the 14 th. of the month in the first month of the year first called Abib( green ear month-early spring ) Later this month became Nissan.

Three full days from the time and day of our savior’s death will take us to the 17 th. of Nissan.  The 15 th. of this month is the beginning of the feast of unleavened bread( also a sabbath/ high sabbath).

There is a Friday in this sequence but it was the second day of Yahshua being in the tomb(dead).  And with there being two sabbath’s in this time frame it was actually on the regular sabbath ( which we call Saturday) before sunset that Yahshua rose back to life ,which showed that he indeed was the savior, without sin in himself but having borne the punishment for our sin; death could not keep him.

Remember too  that it was the women who went to the tomb at the end of the regular weekly sabbath with the spices but found the tomb empty , And on this first trip an angel was at the opened tomb who declared that Messiah was not there but risen.

The Passover memorial begins

Sunset Today I am told Passover started.  (that is Tuesday, sunset).

I should have known this myself but got distracted with the standard traditions many have held dear for so long.  No excuse though since I was going to write something to share with others of the great thing our Savior did on our behalf so that we could then be reconciled to Yahweh our creator, and Heavenly Father of those who believe.

The earthly passover established by God in the book of Exodus chapter 12 in the bible, was given to Moses for the children of Israel  to spare the lives  of the first-born when the destroying angel came through the land of Egypt.  Yet to get to the present, the passover sacrifice and the blood covering was given then for a specific requirement, and as a type of what the heavenly sacrifice was to accomplish.

The one you know as Jesus Christ (proper name Yahshua , the messiah) the only begotten son of God was to become the sacrifice for the sin of Israel and the rest of the nations.

In the first month of the year now known as Nissan, on the 10 th. day of the month Israelite families were to separate out a lamb of the first year that was without spot or blemish. They were to keep the lamb with them until the 14 th. of the month at which time the lamb was to be killed  and the blood applied to the side posts and mantle of the doorway.   But I am getting far from the point of this post.

The one who is savior had to fulfill the heavenly requirement for what the first was only a type.  Yahshua did this exactly.

When Yahshua entered Jerusalem riding on a colt the foal of a donkey, and the people were shouting hosannas, this was on the 10 th of Nissan .  Though the people including his disciple did not grasp the significance at the time.

On the 13 th. of Nissan Yahshua had the disciples together for what is known as the preparation meal not the actual eating of the  passover . What he did do at the time was establish a memorial and substitute for future passover.   The eating of  a piece of bread and drinking of wine that would be representative  of  his body and the blood he was soon to shed( the bread does not become his flesh when taken).

After the meal(called the shagigah/sp? meal, the preparation meal) they sang a song and went out to the garden in Gethsemane.  ( Read the accounts in the scriptures to get more of the details) .  This was at or just after sundown which would be the beginning of the 14 th.   While at the garden Yahshua was arrested and taken to Caiaphas the acting high priest, Yahshua was taken first to Annas the father in law of Caiaphas a former high priest.    To be arrested at night was against the law, it was also illegal to try a person after dark.   But this was all in the purpose and foreknowledge  of  God the father as well as that of Yahshua.   This mock trial though tested Yahshua’s character and proved him without fault inside as well.

The son of God , the visible image of the invisible God could never be overcome by anyone anywhere.  But the Son was destined for the stake in order to endure Yahweh’s wrath against (our)sin and to pay the price for sin by his own death(the shedding of his life’s blood).

Yahshua was to be hung on a stake(nailed to a tree) and this would take place during the time on the 14 th.  when the lambs were slain.  His life’s blood would pay the debit for the sin of the whole world. Salvation is Yahweh’s gift to all who believe. See Ephesians chapter two verses 8 through 10.

Yahshua yielded up his life at about 3 pm. on the 14 th. the payment was made and he of his own doing gave up his last breath.

The 15 th of Nissan is the beginning of the feast of unleavened bread,  it is also a sabbath/rest day making for two sabbaths in this week.  So this becomes clear the 15 th. would then be our thursday.

In Mathew 12;40 Yahshua said that he would be in the state of death the same length of time Jona was in the belly of the great fish(also dead for those who do not know) that was three days and three nights.

Using Yahshua’s own timing , three days and three nights from the afternoon(three pm ) of the 14 th. our Wednesday , Thurs. 3 pm , fri 3 pm. sat 3 pm , the word is fulfilled.                                                                                                              Yahshua was removed from the stake before sunset and in the tomb before the beginning of the high sabbath of the 15 th.

Yahshua was raised back to life at or shortly after 3 pm on the regular weekly sabbath (our saturday).  It was the women who came to the tomb more than one time the first day of the week, the first time being just after the regular sabbath ended at sunset.  Yahshua was not there and he appeared first to Mary Magdalene but not until several hours later sunday morning.

There is certainly more information and lots of detail shared in the gospel accounts in the bible.  And they all reveal the perfection in how Yahweh carries out his word and his plans. And how much he loves us.
